Zimbabwe
A nation without an ideal
A people without a collective vision
A moving vehicle without a destination
It is a totally shut house, stale with the putrefied stench of an idolised past, a political atmosphere that detests the fresh winds of change. Frightened by the promise of progress,
We are a chicken bus tumbling down a potholed road of fate.
Stacked back to belly in standing room only space, the over packed passengers stand, indignant yet scared, feeling the urge to push forward yet weakened by the greasy puss of apathy.
We stand resigned and watch the coaches of the nations we were once ahead of pass us by.
We look with dreary eyes to our driver and are bemused to find not one, but three; one wraps his arms tightly around the steering wheel, the other two stand behind him, each extending an arm to find a portion of the wheel that may still be exposed.
A cacophony of voices drowns us as different sets of front seat passengers shout in support of their preferred driver. It is a pity.
At the door, the new conductor wrestles with the tout who refuses to hand over the money bag, while passengers brave themselves and jump out of the window in the hopes of a better ride in the other fast moving buses.
Whispers from the passengers, “Is this stretch of road less bumpier than the one last year?”
We hit another pothole; Injustice we cough out the dust and move on. I look to the back and return my gaze to the front; someone starts to sing a song of hope.
I start to feel encouraged until the media guy next to me reminds me, “We will soon be in a ditch my friend; it is just a matter of time”

Time governed entities
While Monday blues are a universally acknowledged phenomenon, it would seem that Einstein’s theory of relativity reigns with its stubborn constancy over this phenomenon as over countless others.
Back in the office and to my left is one who has yet to complete their weekend and to my right is one who seems to have been born to do work. One has the blues and the other claims he has, just as well, conformity maybe a greater need for some than it is for others.
My current disposition neither affords me nor leaves room in my circumstances to accommodate such self indulgent, fickle emotions.
The tasks in this my Monday plate request, no, demand a generous potion of my conscious time and deliberate effort, 24 as it seems to me now is a limiting number to define a day. Yet time tumbles on or jets past on its journey to many destinations and zero stops. It proceeds with absolute, undeviating and dependable regularity. Each second by physics defined as identical yet momentously, experientially and dare I say it relatively, unique.
As far as I can tell, time has always been, it would seem as it were, eternal. Time is an ingenious way of preventing things from happening all at once. That would certainly be weird, your day of birth is the day you learn to walk, talk. It is the same day you have your first kiss and the day you die!
God, it has been said lives in eternity, outside of time. To understand eternity from the relative position of time is akin to defining reality by attempting to decipher images of an optical illusion. Using time to understand eternity is like using darkness to define light, the two are mutually exclusive in physical presence and yet dependent on each other for the sake of our comprehending them. It is impossible to understand one without the knowledge of the other.
I assert therefore that eternity is not one contiguous and continuous train of time; I contend that it is the momentous occasion of the all conquering now. Now is the only true moment that exists, it is neither here no there, it is Now. Now is eternity, there is neither past nor future in this eternity of Now. And God who dwells in the now has all knowledge of things. He knows all about now. In this sphere Albert may need to table a new law. God’s genius was to divide the moment we call now into an array of distinctive units that constitutes time. In this array he bound all his creation. We truly are time governed entities!
